A film-performance by Joshua Mastel & Nicolas Cadena
Scattered Light takes us through a process of image generation paralleled in the process of mirror gilding. Silver nitrate adheres to sensitized glass and produces a mirror in ways similar to the silver nitrate found in photo-chemical emulsion. Through sound composition, this dual production of images adheres in time.
This piece is an expanded cinema performance involving dual projection, hand-gilded mirror sculptures, and live sound processing. The film is meant to be viewed in-person, with the artists carrying out the performance in front of a live audience.
